Electric Violins are now becoming very popular with many Really Gifted Violin Players Performing in Jazz, Rock, and Country Bands. Electric Violins Get Sound that is very close to the Acoustic Violin Sound, but it is a little different. The Tone Quality of the best Electric Violin is so close to the Acoustic Sound that it takes a discerning ear to notice the difference.
Further down the page I have many pictures of Electric Violins and Links to web sites that build and sell Electric Violins.

Students can now practice with Headphones so they will not be heard by the rest of the Family when they do their Practice. Guitar Effects can be used by Violin, Viola, and Cello Students to enhance the Sound of their Instrument when they practice. This Silent Violin Feature, practicing with Headphones, will cause Violin Students to practice more and become much better players than they would ever become if the Family had to listen to them practice in their most formative time of music.

Zeta Student Violin $1495.00
School Music Programs should be promoting the Silent Electric Violin, Viola, and Cello so the students can practice without disturbing their family. Modern Play Along CDs should be given to students of Violin, Viola, and Cello so they can practice their lessons with bands accompanying them. This will cause the student to learn faster and learn to play at a much higher level than would ever be achieved by practicing alone with no accompaniment.

The Violin Bow
To the accomplished Violin Player the Bow is just as important, or maybe even more important than the Violin itself. The sound is created with the Bow and goes through the Violin. All tonal quality and musical feelings is created with the bow. A Players ability with the bow determines how good they are on the Violin or any other bowed instrument. Of course the better the Bow the better sound can be produced on the Violin.
I'd have to think that the accomplished Violin Player has as good of Bow as they can find to purchase and I doubt that to the most accomplished Violinist the price of the bow is a deterrent to having the best bow. I'd say that the better, the most accomplished Violin players, have Bows that cost $10,000.00 plus. Of course a great Violin Player requires only a good bow to produced his/her beautiful music. But the better Bow they have the more control they have over the tone quality and the music expressions they produce.
Though the most expensive Bow is not going to make a beginner or an intermediate Violin Player into a great player I would still advise anyone to have as good of Bow as they can afford. If you have an expensive and very good Violin and you have a cheap low Quality Bow this does not make a lot of sense for the Bow creates the sounds. A chain is as strong as it's weakest link. Unfortunately for the Violin Players the Bow is most often the weakest link and this is not wise for any serious Violin Player.
A Good Guitar Player has a good Guitar Amplifier. If an Electric Violin Player performs where an Amplifier is necessary, then a Good Amplifier to go with that good Electric Violin is necessary. Many Electric Violin Players that appear with bands send their Electric Violin out over the Public Address System and this is a good way to be heard. Whether one uses an Amplifier or sends their Electric Violin out over the PA, a high quality Acoustic PreAmp is a good idea, as good of PreAmp as one can afford. A good PreAmp is of great value when the Electric Violin is being recorded also. The PreAmp will shape the sound of the Electric Violin and if one has a good PreAmp their Electric Violin will sound far better when it is sent out over the PA or an Acoustic Amplifier. For those that play around the house the Sound Card of the computer, if it is a good one, will produce some very good sound over the Computer's Speakers, and again the quality of the Speakers makes a difference. A high quality sound card and speakers for your computer is a good investment if you play the Electric Violin.
For some reason I am strongly attracted to the higher level Bows. I saw a bow on Ebay that was selling for over $4000.00 and I wished that I could buy it, even though my playing is at such a low level at this time. There is just something very artistic about a bow built by a Master Bow maker.
If I had a super good Bow, I'd enjoy it I know. I look at it and just enjoy the art and craftsmanship in the better Bow. But my playing would not sound that much better at this time. I know that. But it would still be neat to own a really fine bow.
The really great Bow Makers are held in very high esteem in the world of Bowed instruments. I think the Bow Makers are in some ways as highly respected as the better Violin Makers themselves.
As a Beginner Violin Player I have a $150.00 Carbon Fiber Graphite Bow and it is good enough for me at my stage of being a student Violin Player. However it would be neat to have a really fine Violin Bow.
