Andres Segovia 1893-1987
I have been a fan of Andres Segovia for many years. I saw Andres
Segovia in Person at the St. Louis Symphony Hall. The Great Guitarists did a Solo Act,
then the Full Symphony Orchestra appeared behind him. Segovia Refused to let a microphone
be used to amplify his Classical Guitar. The Man was a perfectionists for when a mic is
used, the Tone of The Guitar Changes Greatly, no matter how good the Sound System Might
Be. I know this from Experience.
When I saw Segovia in person he was over 70 years old and he was still a great player.

You might be interested to know that I read where Jerry Reed Said in the beginning of his Guitar Playing Career he practiced 16 hours a day.
I read where Chet Atkins wrote that he practiced 8 hours a day, every day of his life, in addition to his professional playing. And Chet said that he would never let a day go by unless he put in his 8 hours of practice.
I have read that all Symphony Musicians Practice a Minimum of 6 hours a day, in addition to their rehearsal and Symphony Playing Time. So there can be little doubt that all Serious Classical Guitarist Practice a Minimum of 6 hours a day.
If Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins Needed so much practice, how much practice does the average Guitar Player need to be good?
After reading how much time Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins put in practicing the Guitar I thought I might need 14 hours a day. So for three years I practiced 14 hours a day. I was pleasantly surprised to find out what 14 hours of practice a day would do for my Guitar Playing.

Segovia was a Legend in his own life time. He inspired Countless Musicians to play the Classical Guitar. By The 1970s there were many Talented Classical Guitar Players who were making Recordings and Concert appearances and this introduced many lovers of Guitar and Classical Music to the Wonderful Instrument.
It is told that Andres Segovia had Jose Ramirez Build him a Guitar. Segovia refused 12 Guitars, then accepted the 13th Guitar Ramirez Built, saying it was everything he wanted in a Guitar. Andres Segovia Was Pure Perfection when it came to the Classical Guitar.

Andres Segovia Made The Classical Guitar a Respected Instrument., Many Great Classical Guitar Players Came After Andres Segovia Popularized The Classical Guitar. Among the Great Classical Guitarists who came after Segovia was Julian Bream. There were many more Great Classical Guitarists After Andres Segovia made the instrument respectable to the Classical Music World. Today the Really Fine Classical Guitarists are Abundant.

Andres Segovia gave Guitar Lessons to many Gifted Guitar Players. Present Day Popular Classical Guitarist John Williams studied with Andres Segovia. John Williams has written that Andres Segovia was a Teacher who demanded much of his Students. I have read that Jazz Guitarist Charley Byrd Studied with Andres Segovia.
I purchased many Segovia LPs, on Vinyl. His Bach Music was the best I had ever heard. The world was lucky that such a Musical Genius came along. We have much fine Classical Guitar Music Today because Andres Segovia was determined to make the instrument as well respected in Classical Music as the Piano and Violin.
